Learning to Read
a telecollaborative project with the kindergarten and grade one
teachers and students of St. Monica School
For their
professional development growth plans for 2002-2003, all of the
eight kindergarten and grade one teachers at St. Monica decided to
focus on making the process of learning to read more visible in
their classes - visible to each other, to the parents, and to the
students. This meant sharing ideas, philosophy, pedagogy with each
other. It meant sharing information with parents. It meant helping
the students become aware of the process and the language so that
they could express their understanding of how they are learning to
read.
This web site is
a resource for all interested in this intriguing process of learning
to read. Enjoy the teacher materials. Smile at the children's
voices. Share our classrooms with the photos. And take an idea or
two...
